RECAP: AWS Summit London 2025- Urban Nature with McKinsey

Hilary Tam, AWS Sustainability Leader, EMEA and Eric Hannon, Partner of McKinsey led the Cloud4Green: Transforming Data into Climate Action session on 30th April 2025 at the AWS Summit London 2025 at Excel London.

The live session took place adjacent to the Urban Nature Hub that celebrated the partnership between AWS and the Natural History Museum, to offer visitors the largest interactive innovation showcase ever. Visitors to the hub were invited to discover the AWS Summit Pond with interactive demos on hand alongside expert talks. Cloud technology techniques and their transformation into sustainable solutions were unveiled.

AUTOMACC INTEGRATION ASSURES McKINSEY DATA SUSTAINABILITY

The duo (Tam and Hannon) explored with attendees, AutoMACC integration, pivotal to sustainable data control. AutoMACC streamlines data management, ensuring organizations can operate and optimize their offering, increasing efficiency for their environmental impact efforts and facilitating rapid decision making on climate goals.

The McKinsey team have built genuine value by reaching sustainability objectives that would have been impossible without leveraging high levels of technology through new capabilities, and a robust culture of innovation. In turn, the design of respective R&D programs delivers a high potential for enterprises to decarbonize faster and more cost effectively.

Accelerating decarbonization by optimizing automatic data ingestion via AutoMACC avoids the historic manual, slow process with results indicating the reduction time of data output retrieval by 90%, thanks to a one-time manual update and live feeds that produce up to date results with an update feature powered by AWS Sustainability Data Fabric (SDF).
