Royal Opera House Ballet Season, la Bayadere, March 25th-28th 2015

Latest Sale continues to report on news from our luxury Business Directory‘s Cultural Institutions’ category. We are just as excited as you are that one of our favourite ballets is returning to London. The Royal Opera House (Linbury Studio Theatre) will stage the ultimate in inspirational performances; Marius Petipa’s 1877 ballet La Bayadère- The Ninth Life, choreographed by Shobana Jeyasingh with music by Gabriel Prokofiev.

Shobana Jeyasingh’s dance training began in the South Asian classical dance Bharata Natyam. A creatively driven entrepreneur, Shobana launched her groundbreaking dance company in 1988, with her choreography drifting between the classical art form and many other dance styles.

This is a new, vibrant Royal Opera House commission with Shobana Jeyasingh who has been assigned the task of adding her creative flair to Marius Petipa’s Indian-set classical ballet La Bayadère, showcasing how the first real ‘temple dancers’ visited Europe through dance.

Interested parties are cordially invited to view rehearsals for the premiere of her new work in the Clore Studio Upstairs on Monday 9 March 2015 at  7.30 pm.
