Technology in sneakers, Latest Sale Week 21082017

This week Latest Sale covers Technology for the Business Directory with a focus on wearable Fashion. Devices that have converted movement into electrical energy may be tracked through clothing with the power generated attaching itself to power watches, an mp3 player or even a mobile phone.

Taking inspiration from the world of skateboarding, Argentine industrial designer Soledad Martin has developed a working prototype for common shoes that enables wearers to charge a mobile phone battery while they walk or run thanks to kinetic energy. Such designs are the blueprint for other wearable technology techniques used in present times. Renewable energy is not a new concept however its incorporation onto shoes is. Any battery recharge may be simply executed by removing the shoe’s lid when the mobile phone is at the point whereby it requires a recharge and then powering up the battery via a USB cable.

So far the device mechanism has been trialled on casual shoes such as trainers (sneakers) that may be designed to retro fit the shoe’s lid that holds the USB’s connection point. The key for wearable device usage is adaptability so that the shoes can be used in conjunction with technology and such technology can be incorporated directly into the design.
