Costume Jewellery trends, The Art Déco period (1908- 1935)

The Art Déco period is personified with cocktail rings that also form part of the Bijoux Oui, costume jewellery collection. Elaborate bangles and bracelets and geometrical designs push the boundaries of exotic design creating a costume jewellery collection that is accessibly priced.

A design period that began in Paris, geometric styles that stretch beyond the elites exemplify travel and all things exotic with animal prints, ivory, Mother of pearl and tortoise shell typical examples of the Art Déco period. Also influenced by the Art Nouveau movement, the Art Déco period follows geometric styles taken from the historic discovery of Tutankamun’s tomb in Egypt. The Art Déco movement’s bold shapes, include pyramids, chrome, glass and shiny fabrics, mirrors and contrasts (fur mixed with satin) as well as stylized images of skyscrapers and aircraft.
