Fire Steel Jewellery uses only the finest quality hypoallergenic, 316L stainless steel for their alluring rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets and bangles. While stainless steel may not be considered a precious metal, it is highly durable due to the Chromium coating that is chemically bonded to the steel. This virtually invisible coating protects the steel underneath from oxidation (tarnishing and rusting). It also protects against scratches by taking the initial impact of a scratch and then resealing itself. This phenomenon is called passivation. Passivation is the spontaneous formation of a hard non-reactive surface film that inhibits further corrosion.
As well as being hypoallergenic and non-reactive to harsh conditions, 316L stainless steel can be plated using our eco-friendly technique (Physical Vapour Deposition-PVD) to resemble other metals, such as gold.
