The History of Sterling Silver Baltic Amber Jewellery

Latest Sale explores the history of sterling silver Baltic amber jewellery. Baltic amber comes from the Baltic states composed of Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. These regions are home to the largest amber deposits on Earth.

Over 44 million years ago, this area was covered by a thick forest. Trees produced sap that fossilized over time, that later developed into the beloved amber organic gemstone used in our line of Destino Jewellery. There are an estimated 100,000 tons of amber deposits where this magnificent forest once was. It is unknown when humans first discovered this reservoir, but we do know that Baltic amber was used in Egyptian tombs back in 3200 B.C.
